Honorary Address

From Evolution to Exploration: Our African Journey

Monday, November 26, 2012

Thank you to all who attended the 2012 CSPG Honorary Address.

Dr. Trent Rehill (Kulczyk Oil Ventures), Chairman of CSPG’s International Technical Division talks about looking for Oil and Gas in Africa. His presentation covers the geology and some of the social aspects of Oil and Gas exploration (for example, in Mozambique and Angola elephants have been decimated by poachers). Oil and Gas exploration has provided employment for local people to cut down on poaching. It has also provided the government with a significant amount of revenue so that they have been able to bring in elephants from South Africa to repopulate the elephant herds.

Dr. Ian Tattersall
