Multi-well & multi-log geosteering in a conventional reservoir

The registrants will require laptops with pre-installed StarSteer geosteering software to perform exercises in the class. We will provide demo-licenses for the training in advance. Hardware requirements: Core I5, 4GB RAM, FullHD screen (1920x1080), external mouse (touchpad won't work). ROGII will review the final registration list prior to the course start date and individuals who are identified as direct competitors will not be able to participate in this course. Who Should Attend?
Operations, development, exploration and wellsite geologists and geophysicists will all find this course to be pertinent. No prior geosteering experience required. 

The course will cover the most important part of horizontal well drilling – the process of geosteering – and will look at all the latest geosteering technologies and approaches.

During the course, attendees will learn how to geosteer wells using real data from conventional and unconventional fields. Special emphasis will be given to data integration, as the ability to integrate all available G&G data is critical for successful geosteering.

Course Content

Day 1 - April 23
   - Goals of geosteering
   - Types of geosteering
   - Model-based and strat-based approaches 
Exercise 1: Single-well geosteering (Duvernay) 
   - Effective geosteering techniques
   - Communicating target changes
   - Dynamic (synthetic) curves and model-based geosteering
   - Creation of formation top grids
   - Post drill analysis
Exercise 2: Multi-well geosteering (Upper/lower Montney)
   - Integration of additional data (grids) 
   - Pseudo-typelogs 

Day 2 - April 24
Exercise 3: Geosteering faulted formations (Eagle Ford) 
-  Integrating seismic data
-  Identifying faults
Intro to Advanced topics:
   - Borehole Image log interpretation
   - Thickness changes along the lateral

Julian obtained his B.Sc. from the University of California in 2013 and his Masters (Structural Geology) in 2015 from Montana State University. He has been working for ROGII since 2016, providing technical support and trainings for StarSteer clients. His current role as the North American Technical Manager takes him to companies around the globe, assisting them with improving their geosteering practices with StarSteer.
