The Young Professionals group was started in 2017 to help promote the development of Canada's next generation of petroleum geologists. To achieve this end the group focuses on organizing events that will expand early career geoscientists breadth in geology, strengthen their soft skills, and create an enthusiastic community of young scientists within the CSPG. Our goal is to engage senior undergraduate/graduate students, new graduates, and professionals in the early stages of their careers to build dynamic networks that will serve them for their careers. The group has no technical specialization, and will help expose members to fields they may not see in the course of their work.
The Young Professionals group is always looking for speakers, volunteers, and ideas for events people would like to see. If you have ideas about what you would like to see, or want to get involved, please reach out to the committee contact below. As new events are planned the information will be posted on this page, so be sure to check back often.

YOUNG GEOSCIENCE PROFESSIONAL/STUDENT SUMMER FIELD TRIP

The field trip is one day in the Bow Valley looking at the basin evolution through the Paleozoic.

These strata form both conventional and unconventional reservoirs in the subsurface of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin. We will also observe Tertiary thrust structures at Mount Yamnuska and in the front Ranges to the west, and will discuss aspects of the enigmatic Devonian and Mississippian Antler Orogeny.
