Student Geologist
Highpine is a dynamic, rapidly growing Calgary-based oil & gas company that is engaged in exploration, development & acquisition of natural gas and crude oil in western Canada. The Calgary corporate office has an immediate vacancy for a Student Geologist
Working within a results driven team you will report to the Vice President of Exploration. In this role your primary responsibilities will include the following:
- Research assigned properties and analyze multiple sources of data using applied theory and judgment
- Complete basic log analysis, and generate high quality geologic maps and cross sections
- Develop geologic concepts, plays and prospects that will provide sustainable growth opportunities with the assistance from the exploration team
- Define drilling locations and strategies to optimize corporate value
- Write and compile applications to Alberta Energy and the Alberta Energy Utilities Board
This position will be temporary Employment from May 5th, 2008 up to and including August 31st, 2008 with the intention to go permanent based on business requirements and performance.
In addition to your Bachelor of Science degree in Geology and membership with the CSPG and APEGGA, you are eager to learn within an experienced and knowledgeable team. You will be working toward achieving your P.Geol designation. Experience is not required however experience in the Oil & Gas industry is a definite asset and exposure to Excel and Geoscout is ideal. You pride yourself as an effective communicator and enjoy an environment that encourages idea generation and a disciplined work ethic with minimal supervision. With a natural team aptitude you will be able to assist the Highpine team to achieve desired results.
