Advances in Earth Sciences Research Conference (AESRC)

AESRC was created by a group of graduate students from the Ottawa-Carleton Geoscience Centre (OCGC) in 2002 with the idea of turning the conference into an annual event with a revolving focus. Conference topics have included Sedimentology & Stratigraphy, Igneous Petrology, Stable Isotope Geochemistry, and Planetary Geology & the Early Earth. The goals of the student-organized conference were to expose young geoscientists in eastern Canada to excellence in geological research, and to provide a forum for the exchange of new ideas between students, professionals, and academia. Effort was made to invite speakers from outside the OCGC's sphere of influence, as well as encourage all graduate students in Canada studying topics related to the theme of the conference to present at the poster session. Mainly students from Ontario and Québec have attended. AESRC was free to all who attended, regardless of whether or not they presented.
