Student Chapter Program
The CSPG Student Chapter Program is open to all universities and colleges across Canada with geoscience departments. The goal of the Chapter Program is to provide you, as an undergraduate or graduate student, with current information you will need to make an informed career decision, provide you with current geological discussions and scientific publications, and help you become more involved in the oil and gas industry.
What does the CSPG have to offer your University Geology Club as a Student Chapter?
Providing forums for learning:
- Receive the Bulletin of Canadian Petroleum Geology (4 times per year)
- Receive the Reservoir Magazine (11 times per year)
- Opportunity to register for free Technical Luncheon tickets, held twice per month in Calgary or log on to the webcast for certain talks
- Option to attend the Annual Conference as a student delegate
- Continuing Education Program
- Buy Publications at discounted CSPG member prices (Memoirs, Lexicons, Field Guides, etc.)
- Research materials/Geological links available on the website
Promoting careers in Geoscience:
- Job Board
- Annual Conference
- Technical Luncheon Talks
- Social Events (Squash, Golf & Hockey tournaments & 10 km roadrace)
- Reservoir Magazine
- Website - links to hundreds of CSPG & industry sources for research & networking
Linking industry with students:
- The University Outreach Program
- Student Industry Field Trip (SIFT)
- Distinguished Lecture Program
- Core Donation Program
To become a Student Chapter, your club must:
- Have 5 students each year interested in becoming a Student Chapter
- All members must be in second year or greater in a geoscience program at an accredited university, college or technical institute
- Designate a Student Chapter liaison to be a contact to the CSPG
- Complete the Student Chapter sign-up form and email to outreach@cspg.org.
- The CSPG will acknowledge your registration by email and you will shortly receive your first edition of the monthly publication the Reservoir
