Mountjoy III
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, the Canadian Society of Petroleum Geologists (CSPG) and the Society for Sedimentary Geology (SEPM) we are pleased to invite you to the III Mountjoy Conference of Carbonate Research that will take place in Banff, Alberta, from 15th –19th of August 2021
In this edition, we are returning to Canadian Rockies where Eric spent much time teaching students and investigating carbonate strata that form the basis for our understanding of carbonate reservoirs and dolomitization. This third Mountjoy Conference will be held at the Banff Centre in Banff National Park, where the inaugural conference was hosted in 2015. Along with stunning views of the Rocky Mountains, the conference centre offers accommodation and ample space for our technical program. This location is within an hour drive from the designated UNESCO World Heritage Site Burgess Shale, world-class Cambrian stromatolite beds, excellent examples of large-scale dolomitization, and exposed analogues of some of the most prolific conventional and unconventional hydrocarbon reservoirs in Canada. Field trips to several of these locations will be included in the conference registration. Also included in the conference registration is a one-day core conference in Calgary, Alberta at the Core Research Centre.
Our Organizing Committee, alongside the CSPG and SEPM welcome participants from academia, industry, and government agencies to share the latest advances on a wide range of carbonate-related themes and discuss new ideas and techniques applied to carbonate rocks. Students are encouraged to attend the conference, present their work, and meet others in their field of study to learn about new directions of carbonate research. We hope the meeting becomes a catalyst for the advancement of knowledge in carbonate sedimentology and ignites scientific collaboration and long-lasting partnerships.
Thank you and look forward to seeing all of you in Banff!
The Mountjoy III Organizing Committee.
